Austin’s Rush Creek Farm is owned and operated by Brian and Carolyn Austin. We both began our lives on farms; Brian on a hog and beef farm in northern Illinois and Carolyn on a dairy farm near Rising Sun Wisconsin. We both left the farm earlier in our lives and joined the rat race of the manufacturing world, living near Rockford, Illinois. Our love of the farm life was calling all the while. We purchased our farm in 1997 and embarked on a long-term plan to raise our children and move to the farm. In 2009, we quit our hectic jobs and moved to our farm which has been in Carolyn’s family since 1853, making us the 6th generation to own and work this beautiful soil. We are fortunate to be located in the heart of the Driftless Region and are dedicated to sustaining the natural beauty and richness of our land, continuing the loving care it has received for over 150 years.
After 13 years of offering fresh produce at markets, preserved foods and lefse in retail establishments, and raising and selling beef cattle, we have finally retired from this second career. We now enjoy putting up a few hundred small square bales of hay that we provide to small farms in our area and are just enjoying life here at the farm.
